CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TEAM (CQI)
Annual Report – June 2006
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) is an
organizational process in which staff identify, plan, and implement
ongoing improvements in service delivery and client support. The
philosophy is based on a “bottom up” peer driven approach, one which
encourages workers to take responsibility in delivering services in
accordance with current best practice in social services as outlined
by Council On Accreditation(COA).
At Westcoast Family Resources Society, the CQI
team has been asked to monitor client work, to assess outcome
measures and to incorporate client /collateral feedback into our
services. The team has tried to balance COA expectations with
practical application in making our services and supporting reports
more user friendly for staff and clients.
Following the growth of last year, this year’s
work focused on conducting quarterly “Peer File Reviews”. During
these reviews, the committee volunteers reviewed a random sampling
of open and closed files; reviewed critical incidents, grievances
from families and client satisfaction forms. Through this year,
approximately 300 files were reviewed across the four regions.
In summary:
The committee would like to give special thanks
to Sharon Sargent for her leadership in coaching the CQI team
through the past year and to Jacqueline Jones for her strong efforts
as Facilitator. We welcome Wayne Wong to the committee as the new
coach.
