Ludovic Siouffi, President

  • Board Member Since: June 2018

  • Bio: Ludovic Siouffi was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018. After only three years in the business, Ludovic was awarded the Top New Advisor of the Year Award, across all investment firms in Canada. He holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and serves as a licensed Life Insurance specialist, to ensure comprehensive estate transitions. While completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree through the University of Hong Kong, in partnership with Columbia Business School in New York, Ludovic’s MBA thesis on microfinance jumpstarted his passion for responsible investment. Ludovic is a member of the Responsible Investment Association (RIA.) Having achieved his Responsible Investment Advisor Certification (RIAC), he is one of a handful of advisors within Vancouver trained to identify and manage approaches to ESG risk, and implement ESG factors into investment decision making. Ludovic is a strong believer in supporting the community you live in. Dear to his heart is his service as Vice-Chair of the St. Paul’s Foundation Young Leaders, having witnessed the hospital’s life-saving abilities amongst his family and friends. He is also a mentor with the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs BC (FWE), providing 1:1 coaching to an up-and-coming female entrepreneur.

As a new proud father, I know firsthand the importance of supporting programs for at-risk children, families and individuals looking to improve their parenting skills.

Shannon Svingen-Jones, Vice President

  • Board Member Since: 2015

  • Bio: She brings a wealth of experience with a background in education and over 15 years working with both non-for-profit and for-profit education sectors. Her career began as an Early Childhood, Special Needs and Infant Toddler Educator. Shannon held the title of Executive Director of Novaco Childcare Centre, located adjacent to the Squamish Nation Reserve in North Vancouver. For 5 years, Shannon has held the role of Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Services in the Art Institute of Vancouver. Prior to the Art Institute of Vancouver, she spent 5 years as Regional Director of Operations for Vancouver Career College where she wrote the Early Childhood Education curriculum for the college, seeing successful approval by Ministry of Education. For the past two years, Shannon has been busy as the publisher of an award winning magazine called Fabuplus.

I love being part of such a vibrant and supportive agency.

Major Brar, Secretary

  • Board Member Since: 2011

  • Bio: Major Brar is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) for over 15 years Major is a Simon Fraser University Alumni and is currently the General Manager of Labour Relations and People Development for Save-On-Foods, a company that spans across BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Yukon. He has been with the company for over 26 years. Major is responsible for labour and employment, and People development strategy across all banners and oversees the administration of their various collective agreements, including being the chief spokesperson at bargaining. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for their Union Health & Welfare plan.

I have benefitted from a strong community built by dedicated volunteers. I believe in WFC and what we represent to our communities and am proud to play a part in serving our clients and members

Mikaela Taylor, Treasurer

  • Board Member Since: 2005

  • Bio: Mikaela Taylor is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Partner of Assurance Services with BDO Canada LLP. She joined BDO Canada in 2015, and is the Group Technical Leader for Public Companies. She spent seventeen years with KPMG LLP, providing business advisory and auditing services in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, and spent two years as the Corporate Controller of Coastal Contacts Inc., a publicly traded multi-national optical products company based in Vancouver, BC. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and Accounting from McGill University. She currently serves on the IFRS Discussion Group committee of the Accounting Standards Board of Canada, and has served on the Boards of the Aerospace Industry Association of BC and Student Biotech Network.

I am a Board Member at WFC because it lets me use my knowledge and skills to help make a difference in my community

Fran Maclean, Director

  • Board Member Since 1999

  • Bio: Fran Maclean was called to the Bar in 1985 and serves as Crown Counsel since 1988. Fran is one of four Deputy Regional Crown Counsel assisting the Regional Crown Counsel with leadership/management in the Fraser Region, a geographic area comprised of seven Crown Counsel offices and over 180 Crown Counsel and support staff. Her responsibilities include application and review of Criminal Justice Branch policies


John Clark Vice, Director

  • Board Member Since: 1990

  • Bio: John Clark is a lawyer and was called to the bar in 1986. He has practiced in the area of Environmental Law for the Federal Department of Justice for over 25 years. Before practicing law, John worked for a year with an emergency aid organization in the downtown eastside of Vancouver called Lookout. For the last several years, John as been active with the annual fundraising drives of both United Way and Canadian Diabetes Foundation.


The Honourable James Bahen, Director

  • Board Member Since: 2008

  • Bio: Hon. James Bahen received his education in Calgary and Toronto.  He previously worked as a lawyer specializing in criminal law from 1985 to 2010.  He received an appointment as Queen’s Counsel in January 2009. While working as a lawyer, Jim was a member of the Legal Aid Committee of the B.C. Bar Association.  He also instructed law students as an adjunct faculty member at the U.B.C. Law School Criminal Law Clinic course. He has been a volunteer instructor in the Trial Advocacy Program at the U.B.C. Law School. In January 2011 he was appointed to the British Columbia Provincial Court. He works as a judge in Vancouver and Richmond.

I am on the Board because children are the source of happiness and inspiration in our lives.


Trish Wallace, Director

  • Board Member Since:

  • Bio: Trish Wallace was elected to the Board of Directors in 2000. Trish enjoys being part of the community and has volunteered with several organizations in the past, including the Elizabeth Fry Society. Trish was recently employed by Hollyburn House in West Vancouver but is now happily retired. As a former recipient of our services, Trish brings a well-informed point of view to the Board.

Being a former client of Westcoast opened up doors for me that I didn’t know existed. I love coming to Westcoast and I keep learning, even now.
